En pacientes politraumatizados el trauma de tórax es una de las causas principales de mortalidad. El manejo de estos pacientes en la sala de urgencias es desafiante. Su identificación temprana con el adecuado manejo es imperante para mejorar la posibilidades de sobrevivencia. La identificación de la causa o mecanismo asociado al tiempo trascurrido desde el suceso del evento hasta su traslado a la sala de urgencia es primordial para una actuación con rapidez ante las posibles lesiones asociadas. La valoración del estado neurológico como de las constantes vitales son útiles para valorar el progreso de dichas lesiones.
