Virtual Platforms and Pedagogical Strategies to Strengthen Hybrid Education in the 21stCentury

The digital transformation of education requires teachers to develop competencies to use virtual classrooms in pedagogically meaningful ways. This review aims to characterize the digital skills required and the conditions that support their development. Academic publications addressing teacher training, technological tools, and virtual teaching and learning environments were examined. The literature highlights the importance of combining technical knowledge with communication, assessment, guidance, and active learning strategies. It also identifies challenges related to training, the limited use of platforms as mere repositories of materials, and the availability of institutional support. The review concludes that teachers’ digital competence is multidimensional and requires continuous professional development and pedagogical planning to transform virtual classrooms into participatory learning environments.
