Abstract

El diagnóstico de la obstrucción intestinal (SBO) fue descrita ya en la literatura antigua, pero no fue hasta el siglo XIX que la cirugía se convirtió en el tratamiento reconocido y eficaz para esta patología. La SBO sigue siendo una de las patologías más comunes de abdomen agudo que se consultan en la emergencia hospitalaria representada hasta en un 20 %, siendo las adherencias postquirúrgicas la causa más frecuente de obstrucción del intestino delgado en un 60%. Entre las causa más común de obstrucción del intestino grueso está el cáncer colorrectal.

La SBO es un síndrome caracterizado por el bloqueo del contenido intestinal teniendo su característica principal el dolor abdominal, vómitos, distensión y estreñimiento.
