For several decades, the emergence and transformation of Information and Communication Technologies have been experienced, and at the same time, their evolution has been witnessed. Artificial intelligence is capturing the attention of the general community and the scientific community in particular, due to its vast potential to facilitate certain processes in everyday life. Specifically in education, it can contribute to the creation of a much more engaging, motivating, and developmental educational process. The objective of this review is to characterize artificial intelligence mediated by digital transformation. A literature review was conducted following the methodological protocols suggested for bibliographic reviews. The search expertise included the use of databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Dialnet, and Ebsco, along with Boolean operators for combining descriptors. In light of the results obtained, it is essential to conclude that digital transformation encompasses artificial intelligence, which has the capacity to address some of the greatest challenges facing education today, to develop innovative teaching and learning practices, and ultimately to accelerate progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
