Las enfermedades alérgicas son una causa frecuente de consulta debido a su alta
prevalencia, misma que, según estudios recientes, se halla en aumento en varios países(1).
Se producen por una respuesta exagerada del sistema inmune hacia agentes normalmente
inocuos, pero que son erróneamente reconocidos como dañinos, desencadenando una
respuesta inapropiada y nociva para el propio organismo. Esta respuesta de
hipersensibilidad puede ir desde muy leve y ocasionar molestias ligeras, hasta llegar a ser
mortal. Dentro de este espectro de reacciones se pueden identificar varios cuadros, que es
importante distinguirlos por sus distintas implicaciones.
