Introduction: Children's dance in gross motor skills contributes to the psychomotor development of children, in coordination, balance, laterality, and emotions.
Objective: To diagnose the development of gross motor skills through children's dance in early childhood education students at the "Victoria Vásconez Cuvi" Educational Unit.
Methods: A qualitative, non-experimental, descriptive, and inductive approach was used, consisting of one teacher and 35 boys and girls. A guide with structured questions was administered to the teacher, and an observation form was applied to the children.
Results: The majority of children do not maintain balance when performing the activity; this is because not all children were adequately stimulated at early ages. Therefore, it is suggested to implement dance as a strategy to aid the development and strengthening of a child's psychomotor skills.
Conclusions: The teacher is unaware of the importance of children's dance as a highly useful strategy that will strengthen bodily movements, concentration, balance, emotions, rhythm, and space, providing sources of development for the student to become an independent being and generate meaningful learning.
