Addressing Adverse Events in Anesthesiology: Detailed Analysis of Unexpected Complications in the Surgical Setting

Introduction: Anesthesiology is the branch of medicine dedicated to pain relief and total patient care before, during and after a surgical act, being this one of the specialties that have advanced the most in recent years.
Development: The development addresses the background of anesthesiology, explains what are adverse events, their classification, patient safety and unexpected complications in the surgical environment, concluding with future lines of research with respect to the subject addressed in the article.
Conclusions: It is important to identify, assess and analyze the adverse effects of anesthesia throughout the process. This is the cornerstone to create preventive strategies that can not only reduce this type of errors, but also improve the safety of care and create a culture of responsibility.
