La presencia de síndrome coronario es un diario vivir en el ámbito hospitalario, especialmente si de zonas donde la prevalencia de estos es alta, razón por la cual es importante conocer acerca de que las cardiopatías isquémicas son catalogadas como un gran problema de salud pública a nivel de mundo ya que es la causa de muchas situaciones de morbimortalidad tanto en países desarrollados como en países no desarrollados.
Se puede definir al síndrome coronario como la presencia de una disminución del aporte de oxígeno a nivel del miocardio a raíz de una obstrucción de la luz arterial, que puede darse por dos motivos, bien por la presencia de vasoespasmos o por la rotura de una placa de ateroma que obstruye el flujo, en otros escenarios esta patología puede presentarse por una demanda de oxígeno como tal.
