Abstract

Legal clinics play a crucial role in ensuring effective judicial protection for the elderly, a demographic often facing significant barriers to accessing justice. These centers provide free or low-cost legal advice, offering seniors the necessary guidance to understand their rights and the legal avenues available to protect them.

In this regard, legal clinics act as a vital bridge between the elderly population and the judicial system, significantly contributing to the realization of the fundamental right to effective judicial protection and, consequently, to the comprehensive safeguarding of this vulnerable group's rights.

This research focuses on how these services help overcome the legal and socioeconomic barriers faced by older adults when accessing justice. Using a qualitative approach, surveys were conducted with beneficiaries of the legal clinics, along with an analysis of documented cases.

The findings reveal that free legal clinics play a crucial role in providing accessible legal advice and representation for seniors, who often find themselves in vulnerable situations. They promote the protection of the rights of older adults, particularly in cases of abuse, domestic violence, and property disputes.

Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of raising awareness and training legal professionals on the specific needs of the elderly, as well as the necessity for public policies that strengthen and expand these services.
