This study examines the dramatic parallels between the works of Anton Chekhov and Haruki Murakami, particularly focusing on the female characters Sonia and Misaki. It analyzes how both authors use modes of transport as healing metaphors for grief and the impact of secondary, Sancho Panza-like characters on the narrative structure. Murakami draws narrative elements from Chekhov to build introspective arcs that link literature and cinema. The study highlights comparisons with contemporary works such as Drive My Car and the Chekhovian influence in the narrative, offering a deep reading on unresolved traumas underlying the characters of both authors.
