Heart Failure Associated to Acute Pancreatitis: Case Report

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome caused by structural or functional disorders associated with decreased cardiac output and increased congestion. Acute pancreatitis is characterized by the excessive activation of trypsin, causing self-digestion of pancreatic tissue, in 20% of cases it can culminate in multiorgan failure due to systemic inflammatory response syndrome. We present the case of a 70-year-old female patient with multiple comorbidities who presents symptoms compatible with heart failure, admitted for emergency with hemodynamic instability and the classic clinic of acute pulmonary edema, during the period of hospitalization there is evidence of deterioration presenting signs of severe pancreatitis and multiorgan failure.
