Offenses and Infractions in Media in Ecuador

The publication discusses the analysis of crimes and misdemeanors that can be committed by workers in a mass media outlet, whether it be radio, TV, or social media. It focuses on the crime of slander as a private criminal action and the application of misdemeanors related to insults and defamation. The aim is to elucidate which conduct can be deemed illegal, safeguarding the legal integrity of both the personnel working for the company and the legal entity, such as the channel or the website of the media outlet. To this end, we conduct a comparative and interpretative analysis to avoid engaging in this kind of punishable conduct, which is sanctioned by the state.
