Updated Internal Medicine: Navigating recent trends and developments in comprehensive healthcare

Introduction: Internal medicine, a constantly evolving discipline, has experienced significant changes due to advances in genomics, digital technologies, and targeted therapies. This review addresses recent trends and developments in internal medicine, focusing on comprehensive healthcare.
Development: Remarkable progress was observed in the personalization of treatments thanks to precision medicine and pharmacogenomics. Innovations in diagnosis and therapy have improved the management of chronic diseases, with a growing emphasis on prevention. Technology has played a crucial role, with telemedicine and mobile health (mHealth) transforming the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare.
Practical applications or future lines of research: Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, have the potential to revolutionize diagnosis and treatment. Future research may focus on genetic and regenerative therapies, as well as the impact of telemedicine on healthcare accessibility.
Conclusions: This review highlights how recent advances are shaping the practice of internal medicine, promising significant improvements in patient care. However, it also poses challenges in terms of ethics, continuing medical education, and equity in access to health.
