Abstract. The objective was to evaluate whether there is a relationship between the effect of oral inhaler use on caries index and salivary pH in children aged 5 to 11 years with asthma in C.S. San Francisco de Tacna in Peru in 2019. Non experimental, relational, prospective and transversal study. The population consisted of 54 children who attended the San Francisco Health Center; the sampling method was not probabilistic due to convenience according to the proposed inclusion and exclusion criteria. The dmfs and DMFT indices were used to evaluate the caries variable, while the salivary pH was measured with a digital pH-meter. Results: In asthmatic children, the moderate rates of dmfs and DMFT were 51.85% and 48.15% respectively, the acid pH of saliva was 37.04%. Among patients without asthma, a low dmfs index of 44.44% and a very low DMFT of 40.74%, a predominantly neutral salivary pH (27.78%) was also indicated. It was concluded that there was an association (p-value = 0.005) between the effect of the use of oral inhalers on the caries index and salivary pH in asthmatic subjects aged 5 to 11 years compared with non-asthmatic children of C.S. San Francisco de Tacna.
